This area covers Bukit Bintang, Jalan Imbi and Pudu, and two newer districts: Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) and Tun Razak Exchange (TRX). Bukit Bintang is the city’s main shopping, dining and nightlife area and is busy day and night. TRX is a planned financial district developed by TRX City, which is wholly owned by the Ministry of Finance, and its mall opened in November 2023. BBCC is a mixed-use development on the site of the old Pudu Prison, with a LaLaport mall, offices and serviced residences. Pudu is an older neighbourhood of local shops and food.

Most of the residential stock is high-rise serviced residences, SOHO and strata offices, and tenure is a mix with freehold common. Demand comes from office workers, expatriates and short-stay guests. The trade-off is that this is a dense, noisy part of the city, supply is large, and BBCC and TRX are still being built in phases, so nearby construction and similar new units competing for the same tenants are part of the picture.

Check before you buy

  • The real walking route to the nearest station, whether it is covered or underground, and how long it takes at peak hours. Distance on a map is not the same as a comfortable walk.
  • Whether the title is residential or commercial (serviced apartment, SOHO, strata office), which affects loans and utility rates, and whether short-term letting is allowed under the building’s by-laws.
  • What is still being built nearby at BBCC and TRX, which affects noise, views and rental competition, and the noise and traffic around Bukit Bintang at night.
